Friendly 16.07.98: Billericay Town – Leyton Orient 1-3
Att.: 373 Match report: Paul Bakewell
In the first half we badly missed Leon (still at Southend with Simon Livett). John Ridout (probably our best player) put an excellent defence splitting thruball to St Hilaire who dribbled passed the keeper only to smash against the post from 1 metre!
Then it was ‘all Orient’ (not surprising with their 1st team out !) and David Morrison gave them a 12th minute lead, Colin Simpson got their 2nd 7 mins Later and Graig Maskell got their 3rd in the 40th min.
2nd half & good news in the form of Nigerian international David Adekola, who arived late due to traffic jams. He’s played four league games in England and also played in Germany, and was with Bishops Stortford.
He came on, won the ball on the left & cracked home what could be goal of the season from 25 yds. On the 67th min he had another effort deflected by the keeper for a corner.
Even better news is that he’s apparently signed a 2 years contract! Nobody really thought that Leon could be replaced (incl me!), but who knows?!
