Ok, another game/another win – Town are getting a good habit – 3rd in the league – who’d’ve thought!!??
In general a game more noteworthy for it’s ‘criminal’ record ie two red cards and several (I’ll be honest, i lost count!) yellows, as well as the inclement
Weather – yet another torrential downpour during the 1st half.
The ref (J. – ‘jeremy-game-for-a-laugh ?’ Beadle) could not be blamed – Walton simply pressed the self-destruct button, big-time!
The game started and would probably resulted evenly-balanced, the sharp Walton #9 looking very sharp, giving the Town defence quite a run. Walton had the best chance when the same player, Pickett, hit the bar with a venomous shot. Then came the turning point when this ‘lippy’ side finally argued/abused their way into a sending off for an incident on the side-line resulting in a red card for #8 Holloway. The game (at least for Walton) spiralled downwards then-on.
Even against 10 men, Town struggled to break down the opposition until the Walton keeper sealed their fate by thwarting a Town attack by coming ot of the area and deliberately handling the ball – second red card! Rather than make things easier Town struggled even more against nine men – all credit to Walton, who’ll surely rue this day.
Finally,Town broke the deadlock on 91 with Adekola adding yet another to his season’s tally.
I found this another somewhat frustrating match – we’re winning, but not by playing the stylish football we’re capable of. Things are really building up to the Month-end ‘clash of the titans’ against tott ‘shots.
