Mom: Dean Parratt 8/10 – worked really hard in midfield – much improved over the last couple of games (also looks to be favourite for ‘player of the month’ along with saint) also confirmed by the crowd singing ‘oh, deano’ to the tune ‘gino’ by Dexy.
Match verdict: 8/10 – must do better!

Well, yet another win and another move up the table to second – almost getting boring, isn’t it ? (no!!). However my thoughts that Sutton are «the team to watch», were justified by them beating the ‘Shots and going top.
We really are in a great position – nobody can deny – but let’s get back down to earth – this really wasn’t convincing enough to instil real confidence for the staurday ‘biggy’ against the ‘Shots. Yet again we’re not playing up to our best – maybe that’s good – if we still win, then fine, but I’m still concerned. This is not a ‘personal vendetta’, but once again the inclusion of an inept Payne puzzles me – he just isn’t ‘doing the business’ – Jon Hooker must be confused to say the least!
Anyway, on a beautiful sunny afternoon, with the crowd in good voice and full of expectation it has to be said that the 1st half proved to be a struggle against a team that were definitely no ‘pushovers’. We badly needed an early goal – things may have worked out even better, but it wasn’t to be. No real excitement until 40 when another typical Saint wing-run-and-pass to Adekola created our first good move and chance.
Pulses were sent racing when Leon rattled the bar from a corner on 41 – if we’d scored that we’d be top! Instead we had to wait till the second half for the mighty Leon to break the deadlock and score a fine header from a good left-sided run and cross from Davidson.
Rather than capitulate, Carshalton kept battling (their #9 looked particularly sharp) but lacked real strike-power. Town sealed it on 74 following another run down the right from Saint for Adekola to convert and very nearly make my prediction come true! (unfortunately a 3rd goal never came!)
I really hope we play to our full capability next saturday!
