Well quite frankly I’m worried. Billed as a ‘Top of the table/6-pointer clash’ this has to rank as the worst Town performance this season (and maybe last !)
Rather than continue where we left of last sat, we went back to aimless high balls, no left winger and very little football at all ! Even the inclusion of Kingstonian signing Julian Charles did nothing to spark play. A goal down on 7 from a cross from the right headed in by Clark.
Best thing about this match was the excellent playing surface – St Albans were really not that good -Town just didn’t click. Poor Barry playing well out of position up front just could not adjust. Amazingly blushes looked spared when Charles was tripped in the box just before half time – a penalty looked as though it was the only way ee’d score.
Billy G stepped up ilo Adekola – instead of the expected thunderbolt the ball just about dribbled into the grateful keepers arms. We never recovered and St Albans kept up the pressure to hit the post on 65, followed by a close header on 75 and a clerance off the line. Eventually (though far too late) the inept Barry was at last replaced by a lively Hooker – again too late, with only 10 mins left.
