Chelmsford and district league april 16th:
Billericay Town 8 Writtle Reserves 4
A fast game considering the heat resulted when these teams met at Billericay on Easter Monday morning, the homesters obtaining the points by 8 goals to 4. A good crowd watched the game.
Writtle scored the opening goal, following which Billericay scored a couple of disallowed goals. Two further goals were netted by the visitors, but Billericay settled down to good play and when the interval arrived were leading by five goals to three.
Upon the resumption one of the visitors had to leave the ground for attention to injury, but pluckily resumed and from his pass Writtle scoed their fourth. Billericay went ahead again scoring thrice further before the final whistle, which was blown with the homesters winners as stated.
Scorers for the homesters were: H. Wright (3), W. Clements (2), E. Britton, A. Soloman and C. Thorne (one each).
