Billericay Town Club Record
The Billericay Football Club played its last match of the season on April 30 after a successful campain. At present there is a doubt as to whether the club will be second or third in the Chelmsford League. Last season it took second place, gaining runners-up medals.
The club has played 11 league matches, won 14, drawn one and lost six. Out of six friendly games it has won five and lost one. Chief marksmen this season are W. Clements (27), H. Wright (14) and E Britton (10). Mr. Shipton has helped the club by training and looking after the players whenever possible and this has been much appreciated.
Owing to supporters and players pul ing their weight, the financial position is good, considering a balance of only 6s. 9d. was left last year.
(Note: The article is written exactly as printed in the paper, including the typing error of “11 league matches” – where there obviously should stand 21.)
Note: These old transcripts and scans has been obtained by the norwegian webmaster and chairman Per-Helge Berg by several visits to the British Library’s national newspaper collection in Colindale (now moved to St. Pancras) and going through old newspapers and microfilms and then ordering photocopies of these. You are free to use the scans/transcripts on your website, but only if you link back to and credit this website.
