Everybody kept telling us that we should have been here last tuesday, when we crashed Chesham United 3-0. Well, we arrived in London the day after, and probably missed one of Towns best performances.
This was my second time watching Billericay play, and like last time, against Leatherhead in december, it wasn’t all an enjoybale game. Sutton is probably one of the best teams in the premier, and they gave Town a hard lesson. Sutton was better than Billericay at almost everything, and the result could have been much worse if not Dave Root played one of his better games this saturday.
St. Hilaire had a fair chance at goal at about 25 minutes, just some few minutes after Sutton has scored their first goal, but an Sutton-defender took care of him, and he was brought down.
Our attacking duo of Adekola and Gutzmore got nothing right this evening.
Eight minutes into the second half Sutton got their second goal, and Root had to give a return from Salako, which Nassim Akrour picked up and got in the goal. Nothing much Root could do.
Mark Brewer scored a surprising goal just before the end of the game, and in overtime Billericay suddenly looked like a football team, and actually had some chanches on a second goal during the last minutes.
But it was too late, and Billericay lost the first match this season.
